|a Sažetak na hrvatskom: U ovome završnom radu opisao sam protokol STP i njegovu poboljšanu verziju PVST koja je prilagođena lokalnim mrežama gdje se koristi koncept virtualnih lokalnih mreža.
U prvome poglavlju opisao sam protokol STP na teorijskoj razini. Svaka komponenta protokola opisana je zasebno kako bi što detaljnije shvatili princip rada protokola. Prvo poglavlje završava praktičnim primjerom u kojemu demonstriram sam način rada protokola STP. U drugome poglavlju dao sam preporuke za ugađanje lokalne mreže na razini protokola STP. U trećem poglavlju opisujem protokol PVST te demonstriram njegovu funkcionalnost u četvrtom poglavlju. U petom poglavlju uspoređujem protokol STP i PVST te dajem vlastito mišljenje vezano uz njihove funkcionalnosti. U šestom poglavlju nabrajam ostale verzije protokola STP te iznosim osnovne informacije bitne za njihovu funkcionalnost. U zaključku osvrćem se na protokol STP i naglašavam zašto ga je važno razumjeti.

|a Sažetak na engleskom: This thesis describes STP protocol and its improved version PVST, which is adapted to local area networks where the concept of virtual local area networks is used.
In the first chapter I described the STP protocol at the theoretical level. Each protocol component is described separately in order to understand the protocol principle more in detail. The first chapter ends with a practical example in which I demonstrate the STP protocol itself. In the second chapter I give recommendations for tuning the local area network at the STP protocol level. In the third chapter I describe the PVST protocol and demonstrate its functionality in the fourth chapter. In the fifth chapter I compare the STP and PVST protocol and give my own opinion regarding their functionality. In the sixth chapter I list other STP protocol versions and provide basic information that is essential to their functionality. In conclusion I refer to the STP protocol and emphasize why it is important to understand it.
