|a Koncept metapodataka uveden je s temeljnim ciljem poboljšanja kvalitete
internetskog, prije svega informacijskog prostora Weba, a s razvojem u području
semantičkog Weba i usluga Weba, metapodaci su jasno prepoznati kao jedan od
ključnih elemenata unapređenja Weba.
U ovom radu istražujemo raspoložive postupke, tehnologije i standarde za
metapodatke i njihovu uporabu. Posebice se bavimo onim metapodatkovnim
tehnologijama koje se primjenjuju pri pronalaženju mrežnih resursa. Stoga je osobita
pažnja posvećena Dublin Core metapodatkovnom standardu, kao i RDF
infrastrukturi.
Nadalje, temeljem provedenih mjerenja analiziramo metapodatkovne zapise u
hrvatskom prostoru Weba uspoređujući dobivene rezultate sa sličnim mjerenjima
provedenim u svijetu. Rezultate mjerenja i analize rabimo kao konkretnu podlogu za
preporuke s ciljem unapređenja kvalitete prostora Weba.

|a Metadata concept has been primarely introduced to enhance the quality of the
Internet, mainly Web, information space. With new development in the area of Web
services and semantic Web, matadata has been recognised as one of the key element
of enhancing the Web.
In this thesis we investigate available tools, technologies and standards for metadata
and it's use. We put special emphasis on the metadata used for enhancing resource
discovery. Therefore we thoroughly investigate Dublin Core metadata standard and
RDF framework.
Based on the conducted measurements we analyse metadata in Croatian Web space
and compare the results with similar projects. The results of the measurement and
analisys are used as the basis for recommendations for enhancement of the Web
space.
